8 Ways To Increase Twitter Engagement

Posted on :  Categories Social Media

Social media has become the backbone of the advertising industry. It has become the favourite place for businesses to market their goods and services without the limitations of physical boundary. There are a plethora of social media platforms responding to your personalized needs, amongst which Twitter is a major player.

Twitter witnesses millions of tweets per day by its numerous active users. However, merely tweeting in a disarrayed manner will not yield you the desired results. Here are some full proof ways to increase your twitter engagement.

1. ENGAGE WITH OTHER USERS

Engaging with the content of other users can in turn result in increased engagement of your own content. Interacting with others can be done by • Retweeting • Favouriting  a tweet• Tagging This way you will be validating others. It will make them notice when you tweet and make them ‘obligated’ to interact back with your content.

2. KEEP YOUR TWEETS SHORTER THAN 110-120 WORDS.

You must think this absurd when twitter is already limited to 140 characters per tweet. But shorter tweets result in more engagement as they enable people to retweet your content, meanwhile adding their own thoughts or comments to it.  Users will have to edit your tweet to add in their comments if it is too long, resulting in their abandonment of your tweet because it is “just too much work”

3. ENHANCE YOUR TWEETS USING IMAGES

“A picture is worth a thousand words”. You can grab eyeballs by adding relevant pictures to your tweets. With a very limited word count per tweet, this is a great option to convey your message using minimum words.  People get drawn more towards visual content, thereby increasing your click through rate.

4. USE SIMPLE, STRAIGHTFORWARD LANGUAGE

Using complex words and trying too much will only repel users. An ideal tweet must be simple and straightforward with no chance of ambiguity. This helps in more engagement.

5. DON’T TWEET TOO MUCH

Don’t overdo it by tweeting away. More number of tweets doesn’t guarantee more engagement. Contrary to this, limited tweets are more likely to get retweeted (1-4 tweets per day)By tweeting excessively content gets mixed up and lost as constant tweets overlap each other.

6. ASK FOR RETWEETS

Ask what you want! Asking for a retweet increases the number of retweets you receive significantly. You can increase your engagement with the minimal effort of asking.

7. INCLUDE SHORTER LINKS

With the limitations on the characters per tweet, shorter links come in handy. They help in attracting more clicks. Links can be shortened by using various social media tools like Bitly.

8. ENCOURAGE ENGAGEMENT THROUGH “GIVEAWAYS”

Holding a small contest with a giveaway is a very efficient way to engage more followers.  You can ask users to retweet and tag other users, thus increasing engagement with your content.

A strategically planned way of posting your content online will ensure it to be within the sphere of activity, helping you to reach out to more people.
